Distinctive Unit Insignia
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Per fess arched Sable and Or between an olive branch Vert and a sheaf of three arrows Gules crossed in base, an eagle's head of the second; overall in base a scroll Argent garnished of the second superimposed by a quill silhouette slightly tipped to sinister of the first. Attached around the sides and top is a Gold scroll inscribed with "COMPARATOR" in dexter, "ARMATI" at top and "CUSTOS" in sinister, all Black letters.
Gold is the color of honor and high achievement. Black is the color of financial solvency and the ability to meet future expenses. The eagle is a symbol of vigilance and strength. The curved division on the shield alludes to the globe and the organization's mission to provide contracting support for the warfighter's needs across the full spectrum of military operations. The olive branch and arrows represent the peacetime and wartime contracting missions. The scroll and quill highlight the writing of contracts to meet the Army's requirements. The motto translates to "Soldier, Emptor, Guardian."
